Funeral Poems for all occasions
David Willis
As a Funeral Celebrant you need to have a wide & varied collection of Funeral Poems to suggest to next-of-kin & the family. There are many beautiful & popular poems but families often appreciate poems which celebrate a particular feature or interest of the person who has died.
It could be a love of golf, walking, fishing, gardening, their role as a loving husband, wife or grandparent, their love of dogs or cats even.
It is often helpful on the initial telephone call with the next-of-kin as you are arranging the meeting with them, to get a small insight into the deceased’s interests. This will allow you to either email ahead a selection of poems or to edit your poems folder in advance.
At the very least, you should prepare to take poems that will have the correct pronouns or are gender neutral. I save time by having a two poem folders, one featuring female pronouns & the other featuring male pronouns.
There are many funeral celebrant training courses out there that train . you to be a funeral celebrant. With our funeral celebrant training course, “Become a Funeral Celebrant from Scratch”, students get a wide collection of funeral poems they can download to start them off. This saves the newly trained civil celebrant time at the start of their new career. However every area & demographic is different so the collection can be easily edited & added to meet local popular interests.
