How much music, the length and version of the music and the significance of the music is information a celebrant needs to establish from the next-of-kin and family in the initial meeting. Sometimes the Funeral Director has already identified the music choices with the family before the celebrant meeting but you still need to understand why the family have made their choices as it will feed into the service.
Some families request hymns, even though they want a funeral celebrant rather than a minister to lead the service. It is important to understand the hymn options offered by Wesley and Obitus. In many cases, it may be a recorded hymn rather than a "sing along to" hymn that is requested. It helps to be familiar with popular versions of classic hymns. Some are very choral, some are orchestral, some have organ. Your knowledge and advice will be valued if you can help the family navigate quickly and efficiently to their music options.
